Aru's Charity Run

Mid-term is approaching, so before facing the arduous pile of questionnaire, I serves in myself for some charitable work. This might sound silly, but I do believes in karma *chuckle*. And since Aru was lack of assistance for the weekend, he so requested few of us commit in the sympathetic event. The main concern and objective was to allow us to participate and exhibit the generous ethical representing the whole law student in Inti. Unfortunately only 3 person(me, Ang and Jojo) was available for the charity drive. Nevertheless, the rest had very much contribute some cash or necessity for the fortuneless family. The family had to rear a 30 years old crippled girl who carried the one-of-a-kind disorder ever since childhood. Public were compassionate for the family after the press report on SinChew. Few thousand of cash are donated through Mr Aru, my tort law lecturer, as well as ADUN for Rahang. The church had also donated some electronic appliance. Of cause, I wasn't just go there to show how tenderness I was *giggle*, me and Jerry both give away some of our old clothing and necessity. Aru was a great person indeed, the devotion towards the people, the distress and support for the poverty, he is in his 65 now, yet, the spirit to serve never dead, and he indeed deserve the respect and veneration. It would be the constituency loss if Aru would have be deprived of the next election(touch wood). Now back to the scene, two Chinese reporter from SinChew daily was hit up for another press report. Each of us was interviewed, and I was very awkward during that session, but lucky the fella was not interested in taking my photo(I know I'm not good looking). As you can see below, I've taken some picture on the condition of the house, Jojo was so compassionate after seeing it that she almost weep out, but for me, I've seen family in worser condition, it's appreciable that they have house and shelter. The huddle took around an hour, following we went for a deepavali visit in Aru colleague's house. Yeah the house was not luxurious, but it's neat and well-ordered with customary Indian style decoration, serve with scrumptious cuisine and snack. The housewife are very courteous and friendly as well. To sum it all, I would probably express some acknowledgment for Mr Aru for bringing us to such an experience. Nevertheless, serving for the poverty or ills should be obligated as the member of the citizen. What if you're in their position and without any aids, try to think about it=).

Lagal Career Convention

Ang had follow me along so I would have a companion during the trip, since most of my classmate are not going to take part regarding that most of the firm that join the conference are located in KL area. And yes that is the only issue holding me back, still I linger on with the trip. Not much student had participate, most of them are first year student, and thanks to this, I had the chance to associate with my fellow junior and colleague. The conference started around 9:30, and we are right on time. For the first few session there's talk of from the Bar Council, where student may get the idea of what is BC and what require for the admission to the Bar. As for me, I was busy searching and query on every law firm seeking vacancy for my internship. Few renowned law firm have participated in, e.g Shook Lin & It's my 5th semester in the law course, and I had not at any time engaged myself in legal learning employment or practice. That goes the same with most of my classmates. And with Mr Priya around to keep urging us to obtain our attachment letter in order to acquire recommendation from lecture in University application, I got no choice but to start seeking for a convenient firm. And it so coincidence that there will be a Legal Career Conference on the week itself, the venue was University of Malaya Law Faculty. Without much hesitation, I invite AngBok, Thomas Phillip, Michael Chai & Co, Albar & Partner, Sreenevasan Young, Azman Davidson & Co etc. And what surprised me is that even auditor firm had participated in like KPMG, one of the biggest accountancy firm in Malaysia. I've enjoyed the talk from Thomas Philip and Shook Lin, Thomas Philip is a firm whereby they only major in litigation, and they only focuses exclusively on dispute resolution and is geared to become the foremost litigation firm in Malaysia. They also invite some Human Rights NGO. It's Concurring that I was able to bump into Evelyn, my form 6 friend who is currently doing her 2nd year law in UM. Hereinafter, we invite Marisa to come over to Law Faculty to have some chat. Evelyn was doing well, and from the way I notice, Evelyn would more likely enter conveyancing or corporate field, who would prefer to be low profile, and speaking of corporate, yea I have a wild dream on it. Before the leave, we drop by to the cafe near Law Faculty to have some beverage. And later following lunch counter at McDonald. Well that's how the Conference go, meeting the learned lawyer, experience how a chambering student or fresh legal practitioner would have require. Indeed it's worthwhile.

Enchanting Raya Season

After the whole month of hard-time fasting, Muslim finally able to thrill in the celebration of the new Hari Raya. Which mark an end to Ramadan month of every year. Along with the prodigious national Jubilee, my college had taken a week of holidays. Yet the burdened up coming mid-term exam and abundant undone revision had broach this dilemma of whether should I go home or not. And the subject of demanding bus ticket had screwed all my plan, by the time I've tried to book for ticket, all are sold, and flight was not available in economical price by the moment. Without any alternative, I have to hold back on this thought. But out of nowhere, Ang just bump into me and offered me a free ride back to Penang, in which, it may be a solution to all my pickle. I was extremely gratefully that moment. We went back together to Penang where Ang's parent settled. And I have to conduct myself properly throughout the stay despite the decent family. The bond of kinship amongst the members are well-built, even the relative engaged themself well in the others matter. The gramp would drop by for the weekend and the whole group of family member would went for a feast. The family are filled with future profession like doctor and accountant, and don't mention Ang(lawyer) himself. So I suppose that education has something to do on families relationship, might be insignificant, but this rationale might actually be real. On the fact that in contrast, I've seen family which are poorly educated, they are more keen to possess the trait of being self-centred and egoistic. Nevertheless, that just what I've regarded through my observation. Now going back to the Penang stay, we invited Meyven( a colleague which move to Penang for her further law degree) for dinner and then went on the Batu Feringgi for a stroll. The weather was not helping at all, again another wringing-wet experience I could say. Not a big deal for a big boy like us, but I was surprise Meyven never complain further about the downpour *chuckle*. Well that's about my journal back to Langkawi. Well as usual nothing much has changed back in my home. So before the day I went back to Nilai, I have this thought of having an informal reunion with my fellow form 6 classmates. And since I didn't have any transit to carry me from jetty to the bus station, and by chance Marisa was accessible and free, I've called her out to manage the whole gathering. And we've decide to bob up to the newest Old Town Cafe just located just beside the new shop lot beside Keat Hwa. The attendance was well...fair...around 8 to 9 of us, since most of them had not came back for holidays for the raya. Probably facing the same difficulty as mine. We have our twaddle, everyone was doing great, Marisa was doing her 2nd year dental course in UM, Ying Wei is doing her pharmacy as well, the rest also taking up different profession respectively. After the chatter, we went on to bowling at Pacific Mall. Then the gang sent me to the bus company around 11 before I actually go back to KL. It was such excrucaiting experience on the bus as I've forgotten to bring my jacket, and the air conditioner was extremely cold, I guess my miscount messed up my life. The bus went all the way to Genting to release some passenger before proceed to KL, and that's how my wholly 3 hours of time are wasted. Still I manage to get to campus in the afternoon, and yes the traffic was terrible. That's all about how my Raya journey begin and end, and now, time to persist on striving for the Mid-term exam.

A Whole New Sem

My Sem break had finally came to an end, more challenges and much fatigue endeavor to be accomplished. But of cause for the first week, I wasn't engaged much on my academic. I was the last of my class to get myself enrolled, the payment was made later as well on the fact that I mistakenly interpreted my schedule and book my flight for the wrong date, I wasn't really much out of line. I got surprised for the first class, our good old Tort lecturer Mr. Aru, brought some champagne to share for the whole class, I wasn't expecting any bash or birthday. And as I predicted, it was an settlement as what Mr. Aru had concluded last sem, a contract between us and him. This little informal contract provide that it is a breach for failed to attend for class without medical cert and an average of score that student must achieve for the exam is 60 and above as the covenant. The whole class was amused, yet pressure are sensed at the same time. This could be his idea of motivation or inspiration for us to face the battle, and yeah, this indeed stimulate me for that while. That's about all, there's not much happening for the weekday. Yesterday, Jonathan, who is a senior of mine that gonna fly off this month, came over to my room and overnight after settled his Visa application. That night we occupied ourself 3 to 4 hours of poker till 3 a.m with Chia Chee who is also from Jon's batch. The next day we accompany Ang to settle his fees payment at the bank then proceed to midvalley. The main objective for me to be there with them was to get myself a new swimming goggle, as the previous goggle I use was also borrow from a senior. Then I get a hair cut at Acut Above Saloon, I wasn't much satisfied for the service due to the hair was shorten than what I've expected from my stylist. Then again, I guess it's no harm to try on new style. The quick stroll with the seniors end soon, and this could be the only farewell event we had, and the last occasion I could seen them for this two years. Again, I had to take the congested KTM overflowing with tons of peoples, and don't mention it's Ramadhan or so called the fasting season, Muslim tend to go back home for dinner after 7. So I choose to catch the KTM earlier around 6, but then, the hassle doesn't make much of different, still I gotta wait for the 2nd turn before I could hop on the KTM. And by the time the 2nd train had come, I don't even have to move any step to enter the train, the crowd behind me will push the whole row inside jockey themselves for available space, yet another discomfort experience of mine. It take around 20 min before the misery end, all of us were suffocating, I even get a hard time drawing out my phone from the pocket. But something I've observe which bring some contentment on me, out of the chaotic, a harmonic scene of an old fellow with songkok sharing his "buah kurma" with the other Muslim to satiate their hunger temporary for the long journey ahead. Kurma is a dates-like fruit which Muslim enjoy during this time. Well we couldn't see much of the scene nowadays, the ethical of sharing and the virtuous of caring for each other had lessen. We've been brought up by a sophisticated society, but I still believe in the authentic nature of human's heart, where these fundamental value lies in every one of us. Selamat berpuasa everyone =)

Penang Little Excursion

Day after day, I've been attached myself to my laptop for the whole break, the day was dull, nothing could stir up my nerve. with Ang's inducement accompanied by my old buddy Hau who wanted to go Penang for college registration, I figure it wouldn't be much trouble for me to swing by Penang for the week. Again, the weather was horrible, to avoid any risk of monstrous wave arising from the bad weather, our trip was delayed. I guess the weather indicating something disastrous was about to happen. And yes, losing my beloved phone is a terrible disaster! I can't believe how careless I was, I belief the weather got something to do with it. If it wasn't be for the weather, I wouldn't have get myself wet back in the island and incur this fever, which cause me involuntarily left my phone on the cab after replying some text. Nevertheless, I got no one to blame but myself, the attempt to go back to the taxi station and search for the taxi was a failure, it was the last cruise and the ramble from bus station to the jetty wasted my 30 bucks,a bad day after all. We reached Penang about 11p.m. The weather wasn't as awful. We stay overnight at my friend's apartment, Heap Loon which also familiarly know as "white hair" by virtue of having a one of the kind nature white strand hair above his forehead, and believe me, it's real! The frantic rip-roaring does paid off for the next day. God given me the opportunity to brought together with someone special to me since junior high, the first person I ever had a crush for. Yeah it's been awhile indeed, a little amusing tale of mine. The tenderness and sensation somehow still able to reminisce, the feeling of pure and unadulterated of her still unchanged, but what for me to say, this could be the first time I ever had a chance to came out with her together*chuckle*. We had our dinner in Sushi King, and I've unwittingly ordered Udon Noodle set, something that I'd not prefer for dinner. An old saying of fools fall in love, yeah I guess I'm kinda get the idea. Our conversation was superficial, just a few how are you and what do you do. Awkwardness still fills the air, no doubt, I wouldn't wanna make some dissent statement or displease her. Spite of that, I'm glad she's willing to fork out some time for meal. We didn't manage to thrill in for a movie together as her landlady prohibit them from being out for too late, its for their best interest anyway so I would assert on it. That's about all in gurney plaza. Following by pampering ourself in a cyber cafe near to my friend's apartment, the Infinity. Customer are attracted by their nominal rate of 1 buck per hour after 12 a.m. We spend most of the night there gaming. We indeed have a great time there, we spend most of the time playing DOTA, a custom game of Warcraft III, a popular game among youth this days. Through my observation, I realize that most "gosu" or "professional" player can be easily seen during the midnight, and that give some challenge for me and my friend. For the few following day, we visited Queensbay Mall, the largest mall in Penang, where I'd bought a Quiksilver sandal with an offered price. We also visited the T-bowl Restaurant, an antic restaurant finished with cunning and fancy toilet equipment. The meal was serve in a mini toilet bowl as well! Can you imagine that? If you notice, my bowl of chicken cheese baked rice look sort of like a pile of sticky poo on the bowl!*guffaw* Imagine you're having your meal and looking at your friend digging sticky cheese out of a mini toilet bowl, would you loss your appetite? It's amazing what people could think of these day. That about all for my Penang trip, It was delighted, I'll be looking forward for my next visit.

An Celebrating Visit

My episode of life has not updated for the past few weeks, while many occurrence had indeed come and go. From having a dazzled trip back from KL to Langkawi till the day I'm in Penang which is now. Last week senior came by to Langkawi as their last jubilee before they departure to UK, the whole tour lasted for 3 days. Of cause I'll be their tour guide *grin*. Well the first day wasn't that welcoming, the weather was terrible as it was raining season at the moment, but the rain wasn't last for too long, so we manage to drop over to the bird park and dwell on with those feathered creature. The species was reduced if it was to compare to my last visit previously. We're fortunate that the weather for following day was practically fine with slight raindrop. I was asked to stay with them in a chalet located at Pantai Cenang for the whole trip.I find the price was reasonable, they charge extra 10 buck per night for additional bed given, so it wouldn't harm for me to stay with them so that it would be more convenient when they need assist or any inquiry as they're stranger, while as a native, I would serve well for being familiar on the neighborhood. don't mention the local cuisine *grin*. For the 1st night we went for seafood at lobster village which took us half an hour trip to get there from the chalet as both located at different corner of the island. My fellow senior ordered some crabs and fish, savory is was, but the best part was yet to come. The total bill for the food cost us 180 bucks! fortunately the owner's son was a friend of mine and was on duty to take care of the restaurant at the moment so we get an offer of 20% discount for the food. We're going dutch for the bill, I'm not excluded. After the meal we went back and pampered ourself with some light liquor and snack, along with a mini cards game before dozing off. we're blessed that the weather for 2nd day was perfectly fine since we've booked for the island hopping trip that takes approximately 2 hours, as always, the bateau would bring us to few of the famous island surrounding Langkawi, that include Tasik Dayang Bunting, where a huge lack is located in the middle of the island itself, and also known as Isle Of The Pregnant Maiden which came about from the island physical feature. Then we headed to Pulau Singa Besar, where eagle feeding is conducted, the amount of eagle having attracted was less due to the late arrival. Coming next is Pulau Beras Basah, a well-kept beach with spectacular view with its crystal clear water, calm pacific harmony of wave crashing upon the shore, but the island didn't keep us for too long, so we have to leave reluctantly soon. That's all about island hopping. At the end of the day we went on for Wan Thai, Thai theme restaurant serving varieties Thailand dishes. The service wasn't that satisfactory due to the amount of customer to be serve during that peak hour. The food was well...delicious, but our friend Ang seem to be disfavor towards spicy food, and unfortunately the food we ordered are entirely hot, the waiter had to hustle all the way to refill our drink to quench the hot inside our mouth. When the evening make the scene, the gang and I dash toward to beach and hop ourselves on the famous Banana boat, I'm not sure the exact price for the sport but it was reasonable with the current off-season. The trip was a blast, its funny how the girl react when the guy purposely drag the side tube so the boat would flip the main tube and makes the whole boat tumble. Ang failed for his first attempt trying to bamboozle on the ladies and the fella end up take a header himself*guffaw*, he just made a fool of himself. Turning to an edge, the boat driver tried to maneuver over a tortuous position so we could tumble in the middle of the sea, initially his attempt was a blunder as the girl trying hard to tactics to the different corner to maintain the stability, but when it come to naughty by the guy include me, the boat nonetheless, was stumbled. For the last day, we headed on to Oriental Village and take a ride on the renown cable car, the weather seem to favored us for the morning, but its wasn't as perfect. The sky was filled with heavy mist, so most of the fascinate scenery was not visible, following a drizzle when we're on our way back. We're unable to reach for the car as the rain turn out to be more much heavier. without any alternative, coupled with the time we have to rush to the town, me and Ang haste out the rain to get hold of the car. We're completely soaked in the pouring rain, but that was a fun experience indeed, and that's bring my cold for the day after*chuckle*. Following that is the shopping session before precede back to one another's home. Delwyn bought a Versace perfume from the central town while the rest bought some liquor and chocolate from Hsin Ru, a friend who had offer better price for alcoholic beverage. That came to the end of the chapter, I wish all the best in their study in UK, live your dreams mate!
